Wilmslow Ways
Laurie Tebb, WTC Operations Manager, is obtaining prices for the signage and negotiating with CEC Highways Dept for approval of size, font and colour. RSh has supplied him with a spreadsheet of our suggested locations for the signs. LT has identified a contact in CEC and *RSh will seek update. Post meeting note: Laurie told RSh that he’s not had a reply from CEC yet.
Manchester Rd
Clair Visco from CEC Active Travel replied positively on 21/5 when RSh forwarded our report to her, but no further news. *RSh seeking update from Mark Goldsmith & CV. Post meeting note: Mark Goldsmith did not attend the WNPIG meeting where RSh expected to see him, so no further news. *RSa will write to a Handforth Cllr about additional signage for cyclists near Bulls Head. Post meeting note: Cllr Julie Smith has contacted CEC prompted by the enquiry from RSa.
Next Bramble Bash:
Since the last meeting, 3 sessions of work on the access path to Melrose Way (Alderley Edge By-Pass) from Brook Lane. This is now in an acceptable condition. The Soss Moss/Welsh Row access path needs work again. First project will be on A538 between Jim Evison Playing Fields & Waters Corporation with help from Hickory’s staff as offered by their Deputy Manager Sophie Kelly. A choice of 3 dates has been offered for afternoon work parties. TBC.
IT support:
Member John Cooke has met with RSh/RSa/HB following his offer of help with our website. He has already updated some items and has agreed to continue uploading items sent to him by Cttee members. His availability to attend open meetings is limited by his domestic responsibilities.
AOB:
- RSa has posted for sale the various items (tyres/clothing etc) donated by Jennifer Hilliard. Any proceeds will benefit CW funds.
- HB proposed that Brian Fox should be co-opted on to our cttee. He agreed, as recent retirement from work allows him more free time, although an annual 3 month cycling trip will limit his time in town. He was warmly welcomed!
- Discussion about the continuing very poor condition of the A538 cycle path beyond Mill Lane to Ashley. *HB to contact 3 Manchester councillors for update.
- Discussion about adding new members. Transition Wilmslow members would be likely recruits and BF offered to lead a short presentation to them at one of the meetings when their groups give updates. *HB will find out potential dates from Lisa Johnson.
Post meeting note: Thursday 17th September has been agreed for a 5 minutes presentation. BF/HB available and others welcome.
Next Open Meeting:- Monday 7th September, 7.30 at Unico.
