Open Meeting Notes – 7th September 2026
Present: Jason Joyce (Chair), Rob Sharpe (Treasurer), Rob Sawyer, Lesley Seddon, Paddy Carrington, Bethan Weston, Russell Hope, Kirsten Robinson, John Schectman, Helen Battilana (Secretary).
1) Apology for absence:- Brian Fox, John Cooke.
2) Matters arising from previous meeting. The 2026 AGM minutes have been completed and distributed.
3) Treasurer’s Report & subscriptions RSh reported assets totalling £832.01, invested in Skipton Building Society:- £596.18 & PayPal:- £235.83. £65 has been included from the sale of a cycling top (by RSa), donated by Chris Hilliard’s mother Jennifer.
4) Private land bike stands *HB to seek update from Cllr. Elaine Evans. Bethan suggested that Richard might be available to create a photographic feature for the newly installed stands.
5) Wilmslow Ways Laurie Tebb from WTC has sent reminders to CEC asking about the size and design of the signage they will approve. (Post-meeting note: on 11/9 Laurie replied that CEC are still deciding who will ‘own’ the project, but he will continue to press on it). Production of our updated map is dependent on funding from this source!
6) Manchester Rd Scheme Public consultation will take place at Wilmslow Library on 10Th Sept., hosted by CEC Highways. Strong presence from Protect Manchester Rd FB group expected. Several CW members plan to attend, plus Ben Wye. This will be the first chance to view the detailed Phase 2 plans.
7) CATS Zoom meeting with Duncan Dollimore from Cycling UK will be held on 8/9. *RSh & HB plan to provide a summary.
8) Next Bramble Bash Saturday 3rd October, 10.00 to finish clearance of the access path to Melrose Way from Welsh Row/Soss Moss Lane.
9) A538 beyond Mill Lane Rob Nunney, Green Party Councillor for this location and also a cyclist seems keen to support getting this cycle lane cleared & widened by Manchester Council. We’ll ask for a site visit so that we can meet Rob. (post-meeting note: PC/HB/LS/RSa plan to come on 17/9 at 2.30, meeting at Mill Lane corner)
10) CW Presentation to recruit Transition Wilmslow members will take place at their regular monthly meeting on 17/9, 7.30 in the Quaker Meeting House. We have a 5 mins slot only. BF no longer available but JJ will take the lead, supported by HB.

a) HB will ask BF for a bio+photo to add to the committee members’ profiles on our website. (post-meeting note: now uploaded!)
b) Russell described eLOV, his cargo bike delivery business operating in Macc. & Mcr. https://elov.co.uk/
